Create DHCP Reservation on Google (Nest) Wi-Fi

There are many reasons why you might want to make a DHCP reservation for a Wi-Fi device. For example, if you Block the Ads on the home screen of your Roku, you’ll definitely need a DHCP reservation. Or maybe you have a wifi printer and don’t want to have to constantly refind/resetup it.

Regardless, creating a DHCP reservation on Google (Nest) Wi-Fi is pretty simple:

  1. Open the (Google) “Home” app on your phone/tablet
  2. Click on the “Wi-Fi” button
  3. Click the little gear icon in the top right corner
  4. Click on “Advanced Networking”
  5. Click on “DHCP IP reservations”
  6. Tap the “+” icon in the bottom right corner
  7. Find your Roku device in the list and tap on it
  8. Type “35” (or some other random number between 5 and 250) after the “IP to reserve” then click the check-mark in the bottom right corner
  9. Unplug the power from your Roku
  10. wait 15 seconds
  11. Plug it back in
